The individual pieces of bark vary greatly in shape and size. There are pieces as big as the palm of two hands, right down to small pieces of around 1 cm.
Birch wood is very popular for nibbling, supports the important tooth abrasion of your pets, keeps them busy and is also rich in vitamins.
Here are some examples of how you can use birch bark:
- Over bedding
Simply sprinkle the bark over your normal bedding to provide new odours and variety. - Birch bark hiding place
Lay out a corner of birch bark in your enclosure by stacking it in a tower and hiding small treats in it. - Cladding
The hobbyists among you can use the bark to clad the roof of a wooden house, for example. - Burrowing box
Parakeets and parrots love burrowing boxes and with the birch bark you have another filler for digging and shredding.
