Dill stalks

Dill stalks are the stems of the dill plant (Anethum graveolens), which is known as a spice and medicinal plant. The stems have a pleasant scent and flavour and are often used in cooking. When feeding small rodents such as guinea pigs, chinchillas, degus, rats, mice and hamsters, dill stems can be a good supplement.

The dried dill stalks contain essential oils, coumarins, flavonoids, B vitamins as well as vitamin A. Minerals, such as calcium and potassium, are also present in the dill stalks. The dill stalks are cut into pieces about 3 cm long and can therefore also be eaten by smaller rodents and parakeets.

Dill stalks can help promote digestion and support digestive health. For rabbits, both dwarf rabbits and ram rabbits, dill stalks are a tasty and healthy food supplement. Rabbits have a high requirement for fibre, and the fibre in dill stalks can help promote gut health and prevent digestive problems. In addition, dill stems also provide extra nutrients such as vitamin C to guinea pigs, chinchillas, degus and also rats and mice.

It is important to offer dill stems as part of a balanced diet and to control the amount. They should not be the main food source, but should serve as a snack or supplement. In addition, dill stalks should be fresh and clean to ensure that there are no harmful pesticides or other contaminants.
