Hamster buy:

Tips for keeping hamsters in a species-appropriate manner Hamsters are popular pets and bring joy to every grain giver.
If you are thinking about buying a hamster, it is important to think about the appropriate husbandry, the right accessories and the appropriate food. Here you can find out exactly what you need to consider before buying a hamster.

The types of hamsters

There are several types of hamsters that are kept as pets. These include medium hamsters, golden hamsters and teddy hamsters. Dwarf hamsters include the Dsungarian dwarf hamster, Campbell dwarf hamster, Robrowski dwarf hamster and Chinese striped hamster. Each species has its own needs and husbandry requirements. Before you decide on a hamster, you should read up on the different species and find out which hamster suits you best.

Species appropriate hamster husbandry

For a species-appropriate hamster keeping you need a species-appropriate nagarium. The enclosure should be large enough so that the hamster has enough space to run, play and sleep. A hamster cage with at least 1m² is mandatory for a dwarf hamster. 115 x 60 x 60 cm would be a good size and can provide plenty of run with a second floor. Also a species-appropriate running wheel should not be missing to offer the hamster movement possibilities. A running wheel with a diameter of at least 28cm is suitable for a hamster.

Buy hamster accessories

In addition to the enclosure and running wheel, there are other hamster accessories that are important for a species-appropriate hamster husbandry. These include hiding places, burrowing facilities, bowls, and watchboxes to build underground burrows. Hamsters are nocturnal animals and therefore need enough hiding places to rest during the day.

Buy hamster food

An important aspect of keeping hamsters is buying the right hamster food. Hamsters are omnivores and need a varied diet. Species-appropriate hamster food should consist of natural ingredients and not contain artificial additives. This is not true for hamster food from the pet store. If you want to buy good hamster food, you can get species-appropriate hamster food from us, which contains, for example, grass seeds, millet, dried vegetables, fruits and herbs, but also animal proteins. Germ food as a treat must not be missing. But you should not only buy hamster food, because also grass panicles or millet cobs, also called adventure food, are an important creative way to give food in the enclosure.

Buy hamsters

So before you buy a hamster, you should be well informed about the different species and their needs. It is important that you provide a species-appropriate enclosure and accessories and choose the appropriate hamster food. Also make sure that the hamster is healthy and shows no signs of disease.
