In their natural environment, they feed mainly on seeds, grass seeds and (un)herbal seeds. In search of food and water, zebra finches, rice finches and amadins wander through the outback and feed on the meagre fare offered by the steppes.
Our finch food consists of a variety of herbs such as nettle leaves, thyme and ribwort plantain. The flowers, such as lavender blossoms and cornflower blossoms, exude a pleasant fragrance.
The rowan berries and elderberries provide variety on the menu.
They also provide plenty of vitamins and minerals.
