In their natural environment, they feed mainly on seeds, grass seeds and (un)herb seeds. In search of food and water, zebra finches, rice finches and amadins migrate through the outback and feed on the meagre fare offered by the steppes.
Our finch food consists of a variety of herbs such as cut nettle leaves, cut ribwort plantain and rubbed thyme.
Three varieties of valuable flowers round off the mixture. These include lavender and camomile, which are said to have anti-inflammatory and calming properties.
Rowan berries and elderberries add variety to the diet. They provide plenty of vitamins and minerals.

Canary seed, yellow millet, red millet, silver millet, senegal millet, Japanese millet, mana millet, green millet, wild seeds, grass seeds, marjoram rubbed, ribwort cut, chickweed, nettle leaves cut, dandelion leaves cut, camomile flowers, lavender flowers, lettuce seeds, thyme rubbed, rowan berries, elderberries, cornflower flowers.
