Agapornid herb diversity

The Agapornidae Herb Variety is a varied staple food for lovebirds. The high proportion of grass seeds, herbs and flowers makes the mixture a healthy and energy-reduced nutritional basis. With the addition of fresh and sprouted food as well as minerals and trace elements adapted to the individuals, you round off the nutritional offer.

The herb variety for agapornids consists of 51.3 % meal-containing seeds, 29 % oil-containing seeds, 10 % grass seeds, 7 % herbs and weeds and 2.7 % flowers. When selecting the oily seeds, we paid attention to seeds that provide the bird's body with important vitamins and high-quality oils. The small grass seeds provide long-lasting activity. Because of their low energy content, grass seeds are particularly suitable for birds that tend to become obese quickly.

When selecting the herbs, we used plants that are said to have a healing effect. Thyme, for example, is said to be anti-inflammatory. Marjoram has been used for centuries to support digestion and oregano is said to be antibacterial, antiviral and fungicidal. It therefore fights bacteria, viruses and fungi. The variety of herbs is therefore also suitable for agapornids suffering from macrorhabdiosis

Water: 10,9%; Crude ash:4,3%; Crude protein: 13,2%; Crude fat: 9,0%; Crude fibre:12,7%

Feeding recommendation

2-3 tsp per day and bird. The feed mixture should be regularly supplemented with fresh food.

Our tip
Please check the weight of your birds regularly and adjust the daily feed amount accordingly. It is also advisable to have an annual health check at a veterinarian who is familiar with birds. Remember to give your birds fresh water (several times) a day!
