Cockatiels Vegetable Variety

The main feed with vegetables was developed for cockatiels with low energy requirements. In the wild, cockatiels roam their range in Australia as nomads all day long. There, they eat a fairly sparse and grass-seed-heavy diet. The lack of exercise must be taken into consideration when feeding cockatiels in flat and aviary keeping. Accordingly, a balanced and calorie-reduced mix without sunflower seeds is important.

Our vegetable variety contains 59 % flour-containing seeds, 17.5 % high-quality oil-containing seeds, 12 % grass seeds and 11.5 % vegetables. Low-calorie food doesn't have to be boring or even monotonous, as shown by the variety of grass seeds and dried vegetables in this feed.

The grass seeds are made up of various fescue grasses, ray grass seeds as well as Delicha and Pagima Green. Pagima Green is particularly fine and rich in fibre. Delicha is a type of grass seed from Uganda that is somewhat coarser in structure and still has to be dehusked by the birds.

The vegetables included are carrot, pepper, beetroot, cucumber, broccoli, courgette, celeriac, pumpkin, parsley root and parsnip. Everything is diced into beak-sized pieces so that the cockatiels are motivated to eat them too. Other fresh herbs and vegetables round off the food and provide the birds with optimal nutrition.

Our tip
Please check the weight of your birds regularly and adjust the daily feed amount accordingly. It is also advisable to have an annual health check-up with a veterinarian who knows birds. Remember to give them fresh water every day!
