High-quality oil seeds make this mixture an easily digestible and readily eaten food. Especially in the winter months, birds in outdoor aviaries need more nutritious food. Niger seeds, for example, contain over 50 % unsaturated fatty acids, which have a positive effect on the organism.
Shelled seeds such as sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds or naked oats also provide weakened and sick birds with energy quickly, as these seeds do not have to be dehulled first. They are also very popular.
Walnuts, peanuts, almonds and Brazil nuts are also popular and rich in nutrients. They contain valuable minerals and trace elements that are particularly important for grey parrots with increased energy requirements.
