The feed consists of 49.5 % meal-containing seeds, 29 % oil-containing seeds, 9.5 % vegetables, 8 % herbs and 4 % grass seeds. The mixture with vegetables and herbs is ideal for active large parakeets kept indoors.
Oregano, thyme and rosemary are known from herbal medicine. Oregano is said to stimulate digestion, thyme inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses and fungi and rosemary relaxes tense muscles, helps with joint pain and stimulates the circulation. Rosemary is also said to have an invigorating and stimulating effect on the psyche. The olfactory stimulation of herbs is therefore just the thing for bored pet birds!
Beneficial herbs and vegetables form the basis of a calorie-reduced diet for birds. We therefore recommend supplementing the main feed mix daily with fresh food from these two areas and feeding the main feed according to the birds' needs in order to prevent weight problems.
